Love a Duck!

""Edwin and Morcar, the earls of Mercia and Northumbria, declared for him: and even Stigand, the patriotic archbishop of Canterbury, found it advisable--"'
 `Found WHAT?' said the Duck.
`Found IT,' the Mouse replied rather crossly:  `of course you know what "it" means.'
`I know what "it" means well enough, when I find a thing,' said the Duck:  `it's generally a frog or a worm.  The question is, what did the archbishop find?'"

We love the Duck from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. It is rude and pedantic, and although it is only a very minor character, it seems to personify (or duckify?) what Wonderland is all about. So we've put together an outfit as a tribute to it.

Topshop is currently offering this Oversized Duck Print Tee which provides the basis of today's ensemble.

And we think this Acme Duck Call would make a fantastic pendant - how much fun would it be to roam around the town making quacking noises? What a hoot! "But what do duck calls sound like?" we hear you cry. Well, duck calls sound like this. And, as an added bonus, it's Acme brand, that ubiquitous company who furnished the Looney Toons with all their needs.

Chuck on a pair of leggings, and finish off the look with a pair of duck boots (of course.) These LL Bean boots are still made to their original 1912 design and we love their Edwardian/Steampunk look, and think they'd be splendid for splashing round in puddles (whilst quacking like a duck.)

If all that sounds just too silly, maybe you'd prefer this Mallard produced by the RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.) It is one of their range of singing soft toys and contains a thingamajig which makes "an authentic quack."

Then, after a hard day's splashing, we'd like to warm up in front of the fire and admire this print of a Female Duck by Berkley Illustration.
